At Conkers Life we take our inspiration from nature and the seasons and in both our kindergarten and parent and child groups we follow some of both Steiner and Forest School philosophies.
We believe that having a strong sense of rhythm and routine to all our sessions gives children a sense of security which then enables them to thrive and develop.
We believe that all our children and families are part of a special community where childhood is protected and the importance of the family is treasured.
Steiner talked of educating the whole child; through the heart, the head and the hands. Through real play, simple craft activities, baking, cooking, painting, woodwork we inspire each child to become a “doer”, to have opportunities to become immersed in their “play”. We give children space to develop socially, emotionally and physically as these form the foundation for intellectual growth.
Forest School principles and philosophies work hand in hand with our ethos at Conkers by encouraging activities for both our regular groups and that of the kindergarten. We promote a sense of community and offer holistic development for all learners which encourages resilience, confidence, independence and creativity. We also believe in safe risk taking and with the benefit of small group sizes and a small intake in the kindergarten we can promote this and allow children to make safe judgments.
